Legislation To Watch

There are important Bills we need to keep a close eye on.  Our own Legislative Steward, Josh Lepird, is going to track these bills and give us updates as needed.  We will list these bills under two categories:  BILLS WE SUPPORT and BILLS WE OPPOSE.

The Right to Carry personal firearms while commuting to and from work.

*** Sens. Toomey and Manchin have introduced legislation to permit Federal Correctional Officers to carry their personal firearm while they commute to-and-from work.  The impetus for this bill stems from the murder of Lt. Osvaldo Albarati, a lieutenant in Puerto Rico who was gunned down while driving home from work.  It is believed Albarati was murdered due to his work to end a cellphone smuggling ring at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.

Contact your Congressmen and tell them to support the bills we support and oppose the bills that will hurt federal employees.  We need your assistance to force our Congressmen to do the right thing.  Many of these bills will hurt federal employees and impact our ability to get the job done."
